why the + ?

Following the dotcom boom and now entering a time of budget constraints and all-in-one production teams, it's important to have well-rounded team members at your helm. While it's economical to have single member marketing and media departments, sometimes it comes at the sacrifice of quality and attention to detail.

Photography and video have been linked from the start, and having an understanding and respect of both mediums is not only beneficial-- it's an advantage. Knowing how to blend the two seemlessly can provide an entire campaign's material or simply add that special touch that may be lacking. Looking to promote a new season line for your fashion startup? Hoping to provide detailed images and tours of your home listing? Or maybe looking for a simple introduction between your business and the web?

I consider both artforms an important compliment of one another, but each medium deserves respect and attention. If you're looking for one or both, I'm here to provide the highest quality for your dollar.

I evolved from photography to video in high school, and I haven't given up on either since. I was lucky to start grabbing jobs before I graduated-- mostly small, low-paying gigs that satisfied my need to get behind the camera. Once I entered college, that all changed. Suddenly I was taking on clients that were known around the world, diving into the industry of brand identity and corporate video. While in college, I explored the narrative and documentary realms, all while continuing my full-time employment with clients as I produced commercials, music video drops, and explored motion graphics.

I was trained with the idea that every production member should be able to fill each role on a video set, and I've filled many of those roles as needed. My specialties include post-production editing and producing. (I love my details.)

Photography was where it all started. My mother and father were both owners of film Minoltas, which I regarded as crafters of magic. When I discovered the lure of video in high school, photography seemed to always hover nearby. I learned the art of processing my own film, rolling and loading in the dark, and of producing the perfectly exposed print. I still love the smell of those chemicals.

Now that everything is digital, photography has evolved, just like video. The amount of manipulation that used to take hours now takes seconds. While stylized photography is both exciting and popular, I still prefer the naturalistic approach. Most of my photos duplicate natural beauty and detail, just as you would see them in real life.

Most of my photos find me in the outdoors, where I am most at home. Some are planned, such as the work from my time as a volunteer at Woodland Park Zoo, while others are just as spontaneous as nature itself.

When shooting indoors, I love to offer services to causes I value: promotional material for small businesses, portraits for individuals and families, and product photography for anything from food to sculpture. I find that when both a client and I are excited about something, the ideas flow effortlessly.

about: me

I live in Seattle, and it really is my favorite home. I started traveling when I was very young, and while the experiences I've had have helped mold me into the person I am today, I still believe there is a lot more to learn. Travel is one of the easiest forms of enlightenment, and that includes inspiration for my next visual project. Another form of inspriation is following projects that I am passionate about. I started in the non-profit sector and moved into nature conservation. I strive to help those that strive to do great things, but maybe just need a little help along the way to get the word out. If we can't help each other by doing what we love, then what are we doing?

Creative Services. Provided promotional and event photo, video, and design services for over 20 spirits brands.

Video Editor. Edited multiple presentation pieces for Gates Foundation, as well as provided additional camera and video editing to special projects as needed.

Photographer, Food Stylist. Photographed interior and exterior spaces, and new menu items for use in website, newsletter, and social media outlets.

NEW MEDIA SYNERGY

Photography Assistant, Video Editor, Social Media Marketing Specialist. Assisted photographer in lighting, food styling and concept for food and beverage items for World Wrapps restaurants. Provided social media and video editing services for DEMO Fall 2011 conference, Silicon Valley, CA.

DANGER STUNTS ENTERTAINMENT

Videographer, Photographer. Acted as one of three cameras for filming a daredevil and stuntsmen event, Mr. Dizzys Crashfactory Live! at Evergreen State Fairgrounds. Footage and photos to be used as promotional material, as well as edited into a pilot episode for a television series to be produced.

THE WHISKY BAR

Photographer, Production Designer, Marketing Consultant. Photographed interior and exterior spaces for web and print promotional use, as well as monthly tasting events. Designed and produced printed materials for local promotion. Facilitated conferences with advertising groups regarding further promotion on the web via Google and Yelp.

SNP COMMUNICATIONS

Videographer, Photographer. Provided single-crew video and photo services for on-location shoot with Intellectual Ventures President and COO.

WETPAINT.COM

Video Producer, Editor. Head of video production during startup phase which became fully functional in 30 days. Managed production team, filmed and directed talent in studio and field environments. Coordinated projects between multiple departments. Oversaw script and schedule organization. Shot average of eight 2-4 minute scripts per day, posting at least 5 videos to the web per day. Provided video editing and motion graphics support for special projects.

APPATURE, INC.

Video Consultant. Advised and prepared videos for web use on company and client websites. Strong technical knowledge of web formats and compatibility required.

SUPERNATURAL ENERGY, LLC.

Photographer. Conceptualized, staged, and photographed all marketing content for website, print, and advertising content. Required extensive knowledge of Photoshop photo editing techniques.

BRANCH AVENUE

Resident Editor, Office Manager. Provided all in-house editing services, technical consultation, and on-set script supervision. Video technical assistant to Jodie Cadieux, owner.

DMX, INC.

Video Specialist. Main promotional and content editor for American Eagle Outfitters and G by GUESS. Produced monthly 4-hour shows for in-store playback and produced custom store video IDs shot on-location in Seattle, WA.

STOMPBOX CREATIVE

Editor. Constructed standard and high-definition video shorts for bed & breakfast clientele for web and broadcast. Promotional formats included 2-3min, 30sec, and room vignettes from 30sec-1min.

FLYING SPOT ENTERTAINMENT

Assistant Editor. Provided freelance services in time of high-volume to resident editors. Cohesively ingested footage from a variety of formats into the local system for later use.

BIZ KIDS, LLP

Post-Production Intern. Worked closely with the post-production team to produce 13 seasonal episodes for the PBS show, Biz Kid$. Responsibilities included: interview transcribing, ingesting raw footage, administrative tasks, and stringout and sequence editing.

REEL GRRLS

Intern, Editor. Ongoing film and administrative work to obtain real-world experience throughout college to build and maintain an active film resume. Produced Examining The Teenage Girl (2004), as well as promotional shorts for Home Alive Self-Defense Center and Little Bit Therapeutic Riding Center. Edited organizational evaluation shown at Time Warner Foundation Youth Summit, January 2007.
